Transtech Heritage evolved out of our parent company, Transtech Research, where for over 30 years we have worked with clients on the development of innovative products, machines and solutions through a variety of design and research & development services.
To best develop new innovative solutions, it is often imperative that you research and study the products and technology of your predecessors. It is through this exercise that we gained a passionate appreciation for the high level of craftsmanship and the artistic value of the everyday products and technology of past generations.
Historically, craftsmanship was a way of life and the dominant driver of industry. “Tradesmen” such as carpenters, machinists, toolmakers and welders worked to become “masters” in their field and took great pride in prioritizing quality and craftsmanship above all.
As time passed these priorities shifted from quality and craftsmanship to efficiency and profit. As assembly lines revolutionized the manufacturing process, product focus became more utilitarian and the master tradesmen who’d dedicated their lives to perfecting their trade, found themselves being replaced by lower priced unskilled labour ultimately resulting in craftsmanship becoming a lost art.
At Transtech Heritage we are not only dedicated to reigniting the art of craftsmanship through our own work but also to preserving and celebrating the craftsmanship of the past by also re-purposing old products and technology in a way that highlights their artistic value, while providing a new practical purpose.
Celebrate the art of craftsmanship with us by checking out our latest products and the stories behind them in our Transtech Collection and Heritage Collection.
